An Apple a Day for Your Heart

You may have heard that apples are good for your digestion, but did you know that apples are good for your heart too?   Apples contain plant compounds called polyphenols that help reduce blood pressure, and their soluble fiber can help lower your bad cholesterol. 

What a winning snack!

Here is one of my clients’ favorite smoothie recipes. Depending on the season, I sometimes heat the milk and spinach a bit before adding it to the blender for a warm winter smoothie.

Apple Smoothie

1 1/4 cups unsweetened almond or coconut milk

1 cup organic baby spinach

1 inch piece of ginger, peeled ( I use more than that but I love ginger)

1 medium organic apple, chopped

1 T ground flax

2 T vegan vanilla protein powder 

dash of cinnamon

Place all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until smooth
